Button function assignment page

You can change the functions assigned to each button using “ELECOM Mouse Assistant 5”.

Assignable functions

The following functions can be assigned to the mouse buttons.
Displayed functions may differ depending on your OS. Functions that are not listed appear on all OS.

Display name and explanation of function

Left click
Click on the left button.
Right click
Click on the right button.
Back (Internet Explorer)
Go back to the previous page on the browser.
Forward (Internet Explorer)
Go forward to the next page.
Switch applications
Shows the switch application page. (Alt+Tab)
  • Clicking on a button with this assigned function will display a page to switch between applications.
    This function will change depending on your OS.
    • When the theme is standard, classic, or high contrast on Windows® 7
      You can switch to the first application displayed by clicking on the button assigned this function. Click on a different button (other than the one assigned this function) to switch to the selected application.
    • Other scenarios
      You can switch to the first application displayed by clicking on the button assigned with this function. Use the mouse to select the application you want to use and click to confirm.
Close the window
Close the active window.
Maximize the window
Maximise the active window.
Minimize the window
Minimise the active window.
Middle click/Auto scrolling
Enable the middle click/auto-scroll function.
Ctrl + C
Copy the selected text or file.
Ctrl + X
Cut the selected text or file.
Ctrl + V
Paste the copied or cut text or file.
Ctrl + Z
Undo the last operation.
Ctrl + Y
Repeat the last operation.
My Computer
Open My Computer.
Enter
The “Enter” key on the keyboard.
Esc
The “Esc” key on the keyboard.
Tab
The “Tab” key on the keyboard.
Shift
The “Shift” key on the keyboard.
  • Cannot be assigned to the left or right tilt.
Alt
The “Alt” key on the keyboard.
Ctrl
The “Ctrl” key on the keyboard.
Delete
The “Delete” key on the keyboard.
Back Space
The “Backspace” key on the keyboard.
Ctrl + S
Save the file on the current application.
Start button
Open the start menu on Windows®.
Switch between the start menu and the desktop. (For Windows® 8.1)
Web browser (8.1, 7)
Open the default web browser.
Explorer
Open explorer. (Windows + E)
Control Panel
Open Control Panel.
Printer settings
Open the print page in supported applications. (Ctrl + P)
Double-click
Double-click on the mouse.
Flip3D (7)
Start the Flip3D on the Windows® 7 Aero settings.
Magnifier (8.1, 7)
Start up the magnifier.
Left scrolling
Scroll to the left.
Right scrolling
Scroll to the right.
Presentation mode ON/OFF
Switch between Presentation mode ON/OFF.
Gesture function
Perform functions according to mouse trails.
Arbitrary key
Input the registered key.
Volume up
Increase the volume for the entire Windows® system.
Volume down
Decrease the volume for the entire Windows® system.
Mute
Mute the audio output for the entire Windows® system. Audio unmutes when it is pressed again.
Next
Go to the next track on your media player, etc. during playback.
Previous
Go back to the previous track on your media player, etc. during playback.
Play/Pause
Pause playback on your media player, etc. Clicking this again will start the playback again.
Zoom in
Enlarge the display size.
Zoom out
Reduce the display size.
Show charms (8.1)
Show charms and overlay time/date/notification.
Open Share charm (10, 8.1)
Show the share charm.
Show Settings charm (10, 8.1)
Show the Settings charm.
Open Devices charm (10, 8.1)
Show the Devices charm.
Open Second Display charm (10, 8.1)
Show the Second Display charm.
Show Search charm (8.1)
Search in the app using the Search charm.

Switch to the desktop and activate the Ease of Access Centre.

Switch to the desktop and activate the Narrator.

Show the switcher.
Switch to the next app (8.1)
Switch to the open app in order.
Show Settings page (10)
The Windows® 10 Settings page will appear.
Off
Disable click for all assigned buttons.

How to assign functions

  1. Right click on the “ELECOM mouse” icon on the Task tray or in the Notification Area.
    Select and click on “Open setting application” from the pop-up menu. (If this software is already started up.)

    • Double-click the icon on the task tray.

    • Click on the app button, and then “ELECOM” - “Mouse Assistant 5”. (For Windows® 10 in tablet mode)
    • Click the “Start” button, “All apps” - “ELECOM” - “Mouse Assistant 5”. (For Windows® 10 in desktop mode)
    • Click on the “Mouse Assistant 5” tile on the apps page. (For Windows® 8.1)
    • Double-click on the icon on the desktop. (Other than Windows® 10 in tablet mode)
    • Click “Start” → “All Programs” → “ELECOM” → “Mouse Assistant 5” → “Mouse Assistant 5”. (For Windows® 7)
  2. Under profiles, register the settings in the “Buttons” tab or the “Gestures” tab to each program.
    The profiles automatically switch according to the program in use identified, so you can use mouse functions for the program without changing the settings.
  3. On the “Buttons” tab, you can specify settings such as the assignment for each button, horizontal scrolling speed and flying scroll.
    Items assignable under the “Buttons” tab
    • Button settings
      Functions under “Assignable functions” may be assigned for each of the buttons listed.
    • Flying scroll
      You can set up high speed scrolling.
    • Mouse pointer speed
      You can set the speed of the mouse cursor.
    • Horizontal scrolling speed
      Horizontal scrolling speed can be set to 8 levels.
    • Functions that are unavailable for the mouse selected will not be shown in the settings.
  4. The assigned functions will not be reflected if either the “OK” or the “Apply” button is not clicked on.
    If the “Cancel” button is clicked, the settings will not be reflected and the settings page will close.
    • If “Left click” is not assigned to any button, the following message will appear.

      Click the “OK” button and reassign the keys.
